Meet Daisy's Daycare

In a world where childcare often focuses on efficiency and large groups, we wanted to create something different, something more personal. No crowded rooms or impersonal care, but calm, attention, and space to flourish, exactly what every child deserves. That is why we proudly present Daisy’s Daycare, a place where children can grow and learn through play in a safe and loving environment. Located in the heart of Amsterdam West, we are here to support parents with professional care for their children.

The Faces Behind Daisy’s Daycare

We are Claire Moulijn and Kim Groot - van Denderen, the founders of Daisy’s Daycare. Together, we embarked on this wonderful journey driven by our shared passion.

Kim was born and raised in Amsterdam. She has over six years of experience in childcare, starting as a Specialized Pedagogical Staff member and progressing to roles as a pedagogical coach, policy staff member, and branch manager. Claire was born in The Hague, grew up near Utrecht, and has been living in Amsterdam for almost ten years. She also has extensive experience in childcare, developing from a pedagogical staff member to (assistant) manager in the sector.

We met through the childcare world and have been on the same wavelength from day one. We share a vision, complement each other, and have deep love and passion for our work. Thanks to our different roles within childcare, we have developed a clear perspective on how we want to do things differently. At Daisy’s Daycare, the focus is on providing calm, attention, and developmental support. We intentionally work with smaller groups to ensure that every child receives real time and personal attention.

The Mission of Daisy’s Daycare

Our mission is simple yet powerful: we aim to create a place where children, parents, and staff feel heard, seen, and valued. We believe this is the key to a happy, healthy, and development-focused childcare experience. Through a development-oriented program and smaller group sizes, we help children strengthen their cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills in a way that aligns with their unique needs.

At Daisy’s Daycare, the child is at the center. We believe in the power of a safe and loving environment where each child can develop at their own pace. Every child is different and deserves an approach that matches their individual talents and challenges. Inspired by Vygotsky’s concept of the “zone of proximal development,” we encourage children to grow just beyond their current level, with the right guidance, structure, and attention.

At the same time, we value warm and open collaboration with parents, ensuring they feel fully supported in their child’s care and development. We are committed to a positive and appreciative working environment for our pedagogical staff. Only in an environment where children, parents, and staff can thrive together can we truly make a difference.

The Pedagogical Vision of Daisy's Daycare

As a flower slowly unfolds in the first rays of the sun, so does a child begin their journey in the early years of life. These precious moments, in which the foundations of their future are laid, deserve care, attention, and expertise. At Daisy’s Daycare, we cherish these moments and provide children with a place where they can grow and thrive in a calm and loving environment.

Daisy’s Daycare offers professional care for children from 0 to 4 years old, recognizing each child as unique. To support every child optimally in their growth, we create an environment characterized by calm, structure, and safety. We intentionally work with smaller groups and focus on providing a secure, nurturing, stimulating, social, and educational environment. This ensures that each child’s development can continue uninterrupted.

We view childcare as a valuable complement to home upbringing and as a positive contribution to a child’s development. We cherish the wonders of childhood and strive to ensure that children feel as safe, cared for, and loved with us as they do at home.

“At Daisy’s Daycare we create a place where children, parents, and staff feel heard, seen and valued. Which is the key to happy, healthy, and development-focused childcare.”

Vision on Parenting
In today’s society both parents and children face high expectations. At Daisy’s Daycare we believe it is important to provide as much support as possible in the upbringing and development of the child. We see childcare as an extension of the home environment and work closely with parents. Additionally, Daisy’s Daycare offers experiences and learning opportunities that children might not encounter at home. We view this as a valuable addition to the child’s upbringing. The educational approach of our staff is based on respect, care, and attention for every child.

Vision on Child Development
At Daisy’s Daycare we ensure that children feel safe, secure, and confident so they can take initiative and grow. Children develop best when they feel free and comfortable. We provide children with space for their own explorations and discoveries.

The child is at the center of our approach. We believe in the power of an environment where each child can develop at their own pace. Every child is unique and deserves an approach that aligns with their talents and challenges. Inspired by Vygotsky’s concept of the zone of proximal development we encourage children to grow just beyond their current level with the right guidance, structure, and attention. This philosophy is applied to all activities and free play.

The pedagogical staff at Daisy’s focus on stimulating the development of children. Throughout the day they offer engaging and educational experiences that fall within each child’s zone of proximal development. In addition to children’s own explorations it is important to provide extra challenges to continue stimulating development. This can be done by introducing new activities, play materials, or highlighting new possibilities in existing materials. This approach not only expands children’s knowledge but also their imagination. For example, what else can you make with a cardboard tube, a tunnel? During free play staff remain attentive and respond to situations as they arise. They guide interactions, offer spontaneous activities, and provide opportunities for children to develop personal competencies. Staff observe children during play to identify where they need support or where additional challenge is appropriate.

All activities and play materials are tailored to the interests and developmental levels of each child.

The core value of Language Development

At Daisy’s Daycare we see language development as one of the most important foundations in a child’s early years. Language is not only a means of communication but also a fundamental tool for thinking, learning, and all social interaction. Especially between the ages of 0 and 4, when the brain develops rapidly, the basis is laid for strong language skills.

Reading aloud plays a crucial role in this process. By reading regularly, children are playfully exposed to new words, sentence structures, and concepts. This not only stimulates their vocabulary but also enhances their understanding of language and stories. Additionally, reading aloud supports listening skills, concentration, and imagination. The ritual of reading creates a moment of calm and connection, where children feel safe and secure. This is why we include at least two story sessions in our daily routine.

Research shows that children exposed to rich language and stories from an early age often perform better at school and form relationships more easily. For this reason, it is important for us to create a language-rich environment where children not only listen to stories but are also encouraged to communicate, ask questions, and share their experiences.

At Daisy’s Daycare we believe language is a key to the world. By embracing language development as a core value, we contribute to the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child and lay a strong foundation for their future.
